Case Study

A significant robotic tooling installation project was successfully executed at Rivian Automotive’s manufacturing plant in Normal, Illinois, to enhance their End-of-Line (EOL) capabilities. The project involved the precise installation and integration of 86 Fanuc Robots (MH, WR & Vision), including four specialized 7th-axis robots designed for complex movements and extended reach. Key infrastructure components included the installation of two overhead conveyor systems to optimize material flow. A critical challenge involved the handling and installation of four substantial pieces of tooling, each weighing over 25,000 lbs, demanding meticulous planning and execution for the cold build EOL system.
