Case Study

Rivian
A significant robotic tooling installation project was successfully executed at Rivian Automotive’s manufacturing plant in Normal, Illinois, to enhance their End-of-Line (EOL) capabilities. The project involved the precise installation and integration of 86 Fanuc Robots (MH, WR & Vision), including four specialized 7th-axis robots designed for complex movements and extended reach. Key infrastructure components included the installation of two overhead conveyor systems to optimize material flow. A critical challenge involved the handling and installation of four substantial pieces of tooling, each weighing over 25,000 lbs, demanding meticulous planning and execution for the cold build EOL system. The scope also encompassed the fabrication and installation of a line crossover structure, along with all associated tools, safety fencing, and cable tray infrastructure, ensuring a comprehensive and turnkey solution for the automotive manufacturer.
